With moto GP downsizing in 2007 to 800cc, AMA superbikes unable to run daytona, and Kawasaki and now Triumph inching up the displacement of their "middleweight" bikes above 600cc's why not revive the 750 class? With 20 more hp's than a 600 and 30 less than a liter bike, it seems like a good move.  Suzuki doesn't build dramatically different bikes one basic design between 600/750/1000 gsxr's, the 750 has 3mm more bore and 6.2mm more stroke.  I would love to see an affordable cbr750 (not a bloated RC45 at $27,000) or R7 wouldn't you?

The kawi is only has 36 more CC's on their street bike.  The ZX-6RR is what they race.  It is a true 600.  The 675 would be allowed to race but it would have to be in Formula Xtreme.  MotoGP is moving to 800cc's because they think that is going to make the bikes safer for the racers.  I haven't seen any real evidence on why they need to do that.  The riders are doing just fine on the bikes now.  They control them with skill.  That is why they are racing at the highest level.  As for the 750 class coming back.  I wouldn't see it happening.  Grant it more HP than a 600, and less weight than a liter bike would make for some interesting lap times.  However the manufacturers would have to design a whole new bike.(except suzuki of course)  That would cost them a lot of money.  Who knows though maybe in about five years after the 800cc tech makes it down to producition it could happen.

For the most part it would be relatively simple for the other makers to build 750s in much the same way Suzuki does it.

I agree with jewfzr...  The other companies could do the same thing that Suzuki does...  Brace the frame and swing arm a little, and make an engine that fits in the 600's frame.  And different front brake pads.

I don't see it happening though.  Mostly due to prices.  600s are about 9 grand.  1000s are about 11 grand.  1 grand isn't enough of a difference to matter assuming that the 750 would be about 10 grand.  Now if it was 8k, 10k, and 12k....  Or so...  Then there would be a big enough price difference for people to step up to the 750.

I've done the 600 (for 10 years).  My 1000 might be too much...    So I'd love to have/try a 750, or maybe a 1000 V-twin.  But I am not really interested in a class of one.  Well, the GSXR750 doesn't really interest me even though it is probably a great bike....  I'd like to see a new R7, ZX-7 and CBR750RR or RC30/RC45...  And the MV is too rich for my blood.

I'd also like to try the Triumph 675.  More torque than a 600 with out the over kill power of a liter bike....
