I am going to take that as 'best' instead of 'bets'....

Anyway, I look at the CBR600RR and F4i as 1a and 1b.  Both are frontline sport bikes.  The F4i is a little more of a street bike than the RR.  It was Honda's super sport bike before the RR debuted.

So what compares with it from Kawasaki?  Take your pick--ZZR600 or ZX-6R.  The ZZR is a little more street friendly than the F4i.  It is also carbed if that matters to you.  The 6R is a little racier than the F4i.  The 6R also has about 37cc more displacement for more mid-range and top end power....  Kawasaki builds 2 1a bikes (6RR and 6R) and 1 1c bike (ZZR).

That is my take on it.  I am sure that others have a different opinion of it.

what do you mean the zzr is carbed, and what makes it
more street friendly,
does the f4i lean you over the handle bars more than
the zzr or the other way around

I think MANY will say the ZZR600 (aka '00-'02 ZX6R) is every bit as capable as Honda's F4i, track or street.

The ZZR600 has carburetors and the F4i has fuel injection.  I think the ZZR may be more street friendly to some because of it's larger fairings, more comfortable seat and it might have a slightly better midrange than Honda's F4i.  I think the clip on height for both the ZZR and F4i are very very similar.  You should notice the Kawi's softer seat (if you get an '01-'03 F4i with a split seat, '04+ have a single piece seat that I haven't sat on) and slightly larger fairings (good for keeping wind off you).

I went through this before i bought my F4i.
Kawi's ZZR 600 is kawi's 600ss before they brought in the 636 (kind of the same thing as the F4i is to the RR). THey took the engine and kinda tweeked it to make it more street friendly but essentually its just an 02 zx6r engine.  The ZZR is carburated vrs the fuel injected F4i.  The F4i has its clipons on top of the clamp so it sits you up more and i believe the zzr is the same way now.
yamaha is doing this again, first they brought in the R6 and the YZF600R  became their 1a bike.  Now they've developed a new R6 so the YZF600R is now a 1b bike and last year's R6 is a 1a bike. THe YZF600R is carburated gives you a nice upright riding postion, but it feels kinda big (to me at least).
You've really gotta go and sit on each one to get a feel for how you want to feel.

thanks for the help guys,
im still in my beginner stage, taking msf course and starting on a under 600cc, but excited and looking for the future,
im looking at the two, for street riding only no track days,
diving 20 minutes to work and 20 back, and riding with friends. i want a bike that sits me up the best and dont lay me over as bad, but definitly has the bad ass sportbike look.
