just out of curiosity, i've seen a number of ads stating that among other things they chrome break rotors. now i know that chrome actually makes for a pretty hard surface but is breaking affected in any way? i'm not actually a fan of chrome i'm just curious.

Actually, Harley has been marketing chrome brake rotors for years. They claim the chrome is harder than most anything else and has superior wear capabilities.
Me personally, it sounds like a load of crap. I just can't see shiny, slick rotors being able to stop all that well.

Thanks. like i said i was just woderin. i did metal plating for a while and like i said i know that that when you do a hardness test on chrome it is pretty hard but just like you said i just didn't know if the slick surface affected breaking or not.

Moto Guzzi messed around with chrome rotors more than 20 years ago. I think they were trying to avoid the rusting of cast iron. At any rate the chrome didn't work for them. It had piling problems. That may not be an issue now, but I won't care to find out.
