Routine Maintenance Question

I've got 2000 miles on my CBR600RR right now.  I'm going to change oil again, and also take some slack out of the chain. My CBR manual says you can do this on the side stand.  Do most of you guys who don't have rear wheel stands have any trouble doing it this way? Also should I change break fluid this early (I bought the bike last summer new but is an 2003 so it was setting on the showroom floor for 2 years) What about radiator fluid?  The bike never sees the race track, mostly riding to school, breaks get a good work out every once and a while, have only had the bike to redline twice (in first gear), and haven't had the bike over 135 yet. Its my first bike. Thanks guys.

You can tighten it on the side n/p. It will be a pain though. I'd just string test it to make sure you aligned it properly.

I wouldn't change brake fluid if it still looks new and clear. As for all the other fluids it can never hurt to change out too often, but your service manual should give a pretty good go-to for change intervals.

You can change brake fluid if it's dark. Adjust ing the chain on the sidestand is the way you are supposed to do it, at least with the slack prescribed by the manual. If you adjust it with it on a race stand, it will be to tight when on the side stand, which is also when the suspesion is extended. If you want to adjust on a race stand or center stand, you have to dial in more slack than what the manual tells you.

Its easy to change the oil without a rear stand also. Just make sure when you're filling that you have a friend stand the bike upright so you can check the oil fill line...

On any bike you care about, you should change all fluids on a regular basis. On average (oil change 2-4 times a year). (engine coolant every year). (brake fluid every year).Refer to service manual for fork& shock fluid intervals. It all matters how, when, and where the bike is riden.
