The subject of ones first bike has been done many times. My question is what gear would you reconmend for a newbie. I talking modest priced, middle of the road fuctional gear. Not so cheap that it is worthless,or top shelf either. Something you would hope to see a bother ,sister, son, or daughter wearing on the road. Reconmendions on helmets, jackets, gloves, and boots would be helpful. I trying to seprate the wheat from the chaff here folks, with an eye to upgrade in the future. Thank you for your feedback.

That's a lot of ground to cover. Most stuff is good enough, price is actually a pretty good indicator in this arena. Pretty much, buy the best you can afford. The best advice I can give is that the more plain the gear is, the more bang for the buck. For example. The Shoei RF1000 in black is about $340, the same helmet with a pretty paint job is almost $500. BTW, that helmet is worth the $340. Don't cheap out on that if you can help it. Comfort goes a long way in helmets. That helmet is light, quiet and well ventilated. None of those three things can be overrated.
As for gear, this place always has great deals and good reviews. Closeout stuff is just last years design and usually a very good bargain.

Just make sure everything fits! When I was taking my wife out looking for some new gear, she kept trying on helmets and saying "This one fits" then you grab hold and turn it half way aroudn her head.
Same with jackets, she wanted a Wilson feel for her leather....
Make sure the fit is good for yourself. Try on a lot of different things. Don't get to caught up in the name game.
