So, Gauloises pulls it's sponsorship of the factory yamaha team...then Camel steps up to the plate.

facinating times, these are.

I wonder what the colors will be...

i'll bet it'll be the same Yamaha 50th anniversary yellow they used on the Laguna Seca GP, the owners of the yellow R6 & R1's will have something to look forward to this season.

And here I thought the whole issue was that Rossi objected to cigarette sponsorship. Goes to show how gullible I am.

+1

A month or so ago, I thought I had heard that Rossi wanted to form his own team so that he didn't have to use cig money.  Gaul was under the assumption that they were the factory team (aka Repsol) and without Rossi they wouldn't really be the factory team....  Gaul also threatened to pull ALL of their sponsorship....  And the silly season continues.

Well, if Rossi is going to race F1, he better get used to cig money.

yeah, there was talk about him starting a team with McDonalds...guess that didn't pan out.

i thought when he made the jump to F1, he'd be racing for Marlboro Ferrari, and Gauloises didn't like that...

Really, how many teams aren't sponsored by cigarettes in MotoGP? 2?

I was listening to MotoGPod (a motogp podcast) and he was saying that Gauloise said in their contract that Yamaha  was not allowed to take sponsorship from other companies that directly competed with Gauloise (a.k.a. camel).  I might be wrong but if this is true there will probably be some lawsuits on the way.
