Hello, is the 650R a good bike for a new rider? I considered getting the Ninja 500R or GS500F but these bikes lack aesthetic appeal. The Kawasaki company website claims the Ninja 650R is a good bike for a novice. I doubt it, but what do you guys think about the 650R for a novice as the website claims? Thanks for the feedback. Needless to say i'm a new rider with minimal experience.

Maybe.... I don't know if anyone has riden the new Ninja 650 yet. Maybe in Europe....
The 650 Ninja along with the SV650, Katana 600 are about the most bike I'd recommend for a new rider as far as sport bikes go. It is certainly a much better choice than say a GSXR600, R6, CBR600RR, etc.
Sit on one and see if it feels comfortable. Can you put both feet firmly on the ground. If it fits, and is comfortable, and isn't intimidating then get it if you like it. I still think a used 250/500 would be a better choice for a year or so... And then get the bike you like.

I think you may want to think about getting a cheap used bike (doesn't have to be a beater/POS, just something cheaper and used) to ride for a year or two and THEN put money down on a NEW bike that you REALLY want. Those 250/500s have been around for a while without many (any?) changes, you can find one for dirt cheap.
