yeah rossi is removing a tear off at full lean. with Sete on his butt. Can't say I have ever attemted something like that. Just shows you how comfortable he is on the bike i guess.

I studied that picture for 10 minutes and didn't see it, that is freaking sick!! I've raced for 11yrs, with a fair amount of sucess and I would never even think to try that, I guess that's why I have a regular job as well.

I mean it's a cool pic, but not really that impressive. He's probably safer trying to remove the tear off at full lean in the middle of the turn than he is trying it whie accelerating balls out on a straight while trying to wrestle with 200+ hp. Imagine going into a 180mph tankslapper witn one hand off the clip-on.
Think about it; the last time you were that deep into a corner and heeled way over at your comfort level, what were you doing with your left hand? It on the left clip on more for comfort than anything, you certainly don't want to be clutching right there. Deep into a corner like that is one of the few times that you can actually physically "rest" on a Moto GP bike. There are many reasons to be in awe of Valentino Rossi but I don't think that pic is one of em.
I used to have a pic of Carl Fogarty in the middle of a corner giving the camera (which was on the outside of the turn) the finger while doing a massively crossed up wheelie at 120 mph. THAT was an impressive pic.

I suppose after he pulled the tear off that he raised up just enough to dig his leathers out of his ass crack. The man certainly is centered isn't he?

I believe its like a plastic coating that covers over the visor on the helmets. It's got a tab on the side so you can pull it out I'm assuming. Perhaps Rossi has debris on his or something.....

Looks like he is taking a call on his cell phone.
Or maybe thinking if he can truely save money by switching to Gieco.

Well, the reality is these guys are so comfortable in this scenerio that doing things like Rossi is doing would seem extreme (it is VERY cool) but actually is really no big deal to them. It actually looks like he is trying to adjust something rather than removing a tear off. Either way it looks as though he were doing it and not even thinking about it...

Hmm...and so I guess that's the reason you see all the MotoGP riders peeling tearoffs at the apex of turns instead of on the straights?
The reason he's doing it there is because he's playing psychological games with Gibernau. He's basically telling him, "What, me worried because you're on my ass? Yawwwwnnnn....I wonder where we're having the victory party tonite?"

i doubt he's playing the psychological game at that point. gibernau is probably looking out of the corner rather than concentrating on rossi's hand. i could be wrong.
it is a sweet picture, i wonder how fast that corner was.

a tear off is a circumsion gone wrong. its the left over skin the doctor couldnt bother dealing after the first cut.

I think just the fact that Rossi is even taking his hand off the bar at the apex of a corner while leading a GP sitting directly in front of Gibernau (kind of hard for Sete to ignore) is a gesture of sorts.
