No contest...  The best rider....

Which Suzuki 750?  GSXR or Katana?  All things being equal, the GSXR750 beats the VFR800 which beats the Katana 750....

And my ZX-10R beats them all.

Do you want me to believe, that, with all the special Mods placed on the Honda VFR, that the Suzuki gxr 750 would still be on top?

huh?  VFR?  Sportbike?  I think you're very confused if you're comparing a VFR to the Gixxer 750; they're not even in the same class really.  The VFR is a very sporty touring bike/very comfortable sport bike.  The Gixxer is an umcompromised sport bike designed to haul ass on the race track.

What mods?

Stock vs. stock, the GSXR750 is about 80 pounds lighter and puts down about 15 more horse power....  Don't believe the hype, the psuedo V-tech on the VFR does nothing for better performance.  The GSXR is quicker, faster, and handles better.  Period.  When was the last time you saw anyone race a VFR with any success?

The VFR is a great sport-touring bike.  Heavy on the sport.  But the GSXR is a race bike with lights.  Get the bike that is best for you.

If you are racing across several states or even for several days the VFR would win hands down!  You will also get MUCH better reliabilty and resale value for the VFR.

A big plus is that you won't look like every other squid out there on a GSXR.  I doubt there is anyone on this board who could, riding any bike made, beat a pro riding a VFR... unless you are talking drag racing! So as said earlier, it is all depends on the rider.

If you want to ride for more than a couple of hours without pain get the VFR.

Depend on the rider? Perhaps! Tell me though, just who and the hell is going to race across several states anyway? And as for the "squid" comment....ahhh forget it I'd get yelled at for writing what I'm thinking! I would love to see the study or article that states the VFR is more dependable and has a better resale than a GSXR 750!???
For the record, I for one would love to give that whole pro on VFR thing a try.....

I am still waiting....  What mods?  Truth be told, all of the top 600s (R6, CBR600RR, 6R, GSXR600) will hand a VFR800 it's head.

2 totally differnt kind of bikes.  in its hayday the vfr might have been considered a good sportbike but its turned into a sports tourer (see Triumph Sprint).  I think they;er about equal HP but the GSXR is way lighter, revs higher, and is all together a wss.... while the int is more comfortable, will get you further, and still kick some tail around the corners...
that and i believe they're still totaly different engines.  vfr uses a v4 with vtech while the gsxr uses the ever popular I4.  i might be mistaken though.
just for reality purposes we'll compare it to the Katana 750 which is in the sports tourer class now.  the katana is simplistic w/ a carb while vfr runs fi, the katana weighs more and puts out less power (guessing on the weight is somewhere near 430lbs....) now the katana has two things up on the vfr, one being its simplicity and two being its general look.  if you're not into a super modern look (lotta angles, underseat exhaust, digistal readouts) then you'll be more into the katana.
