I just started riding 2 months ago and this is my first bike. If you have any riding tips or techneaks on riding any whould help on the road to learning to ride good and defensively.

Suggest you seriously consider taking the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course... After that, a local track school would probably help.
Seriously, the BRC will help you with the four basic physical skills... Straight line riding, turning, shifting, and stopping. After you learn these, get out and practice them while you ride.
If/when you decide to explore your limits and the limits/capabilities of your bike, please take it to the track. You will have infinitely more fun there than having to worry about what is around the bend of that next blind curve.
Good luck and stay safe.
