Hey SR. I'm currently bikeless but used to have a '00 GSX-R600. I sold it 2 years ago when I went into the police academy. I regretted selling it but had no choice. Now with the gas prices soaring I'm looking to get another bike. Now I'm trying to talk my wife into it
I have my eye on a Hayabusa. After sitting on one in the showroom floor, I think it would make a great commuter bike. I'll be traveling 60 miles round trip. Seems like it has decently comfy ergos. I read a recent road test that said it has a nice ride.
Well, I'm looking forward to posting more on the boards.

A 600 to a hayabusa, and for some good ol' commuting as well?? Maybe I'm wrong but I'm sure your gonna hear some not so good things about this one. More power to ya,no pun intended.

Well I rode my bike for over 3 years without (knock on wood) incident. I rode my bike like I had common sense. Some flames may be sent my way but I have on Nomex underwear

I agree with you that the Busa is a VERY comfortable bike, to sit on, anyway. I've never ridden one. I suggest you test ride one BEFORE you start fantasizing. You might change your mind. Hopefully you will. But if you find that it's what you really want, I'd say get it. Deciding on what bike to get next is sometimes a very difficult thing. For me, it's torturous. That's why some of us own several bikes, I guess.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a Busa. And I don't know of any dealership in my area that offers test rides. Thanks for the quick replies.

Darin, just check your local papers, cycletrader.com, etc and try to locate a used one for sale. Go test ride the used one, they are probably pretty similar to a new one.

Just don't leave any bike magazines with tests of the Hayabusa laying around so your wife can read through them ("194 MPH!!", "Unbelievable acceleration that will flatten your eyeballs...", "Enough power to leave any four-wheeled vehicle in its dust...", etc. etc.), otherwise convincing her may be a lost cause. Not that it may matter much, but just a thought...

You never know, though. Sometimes that kind of thing can work to your advantage with wives. Back in my 'car' days my wife used to protest the ridiculous amount of money that I would spend on my Mustang's 351C engine. "WHY?" she would ask. "Because", I replied, "it gives the car more power." "What good does that do?" "It gives you better gas mileage when you have more power,"I told her. (I know the BS is getting thick, and you guys are smirking, but follow me here....) "If the car has more power, that means I don't have to push on the gas pedal as hard to go the same speed, so I use less gas." She bought it, hook, line, and sinker. I couldn't believe it. Then I ordered a new MSD ignition module. So just tell her the Busa is really fuel efficient, you never know....
