I was curious if you guys had any preference as far as race slicks went. I usually use Pirelli Supercorsa's but i was wanting to try a 190/55/17 bridgstone slick on the next track day. What would you guys suggest?

Unless you are an expert or ride hard enough to warrant a "Slick" I recommend a DOT Race tire. Like 208GP or Pilot Race, This is what is run in SuperSport. To my experience this is all you should need. At track day there is no trophe at the end. I have ran a set of Bridgestone Slicks before. It's a lot more un-forgiving. You have to be a lot more precise with throttle inputs. Plus you'll only get to use them that one track day. Slicks are designed for minimal heat cycles. What ever you do, get a set. Front and rear. of same maker/compound

Honestly, in my opinion, if you are outriding the Supercorsa's; you should be competing.

Thats what I was thinking but...I have never had a set of Supercorsas. Are they a DOT Race compound similar to Pilot Race.

I've never tried the Supercorsa's but I have a set of Diablo Corsa's that I use for track days. I was very happy with thier performance. This last trackday was the first time I've ever used any Pirelli. I had complete confidence fairly quick and the tires were up to temp in about 1 easy going lap.
There are 4 main tires offered from Pirelli for sportbikes.
The Diablo is a street tire capable of track use, they describe it as 20% track, 80% street.
Diablo Corsa is the opposite, a racetrack tire that still can be used as a daily street tire. They call it a trackday tire; 80% track, 20% street.
Supercorsa is the DOT race tire, the same used in AMA Supersport racing. Available in several compounds. It's street legal, but not recommended.
Daiblo Dragon Corsa, racing slick.

I have several friends that race, including one that raced AMA Superbike, Supersport and Superstock last year. All of these guys were quick to tell me to be cautious of using slicks until I really need them. They can be very unforgiving and you have to be fast to really hold them up to temperature. Otherwise you'll actually be slower on them. I was only telling him that, unless you are constantly losing traction and outriding the Supercorsa's, don't waste the money on slicks.

Sorry for being un clear. i meant he probably means what brand/compound tires. i know slicks arent good because of minimal heat cycles and all that. im just saying hes probably asking us what we like to use, ie bridgestone bts, dunlop gps, michelin power sports, etc.

If that's the case, he should clarify. he specifically asked about slicks in his post and also said he was already using DOT race tires. I assumed he wanted to move up to the next level, slicks. My initial comment was only stating, that if he needs a slick, he really should consider doing some actual competition.
If he simply wants to know what brand of slick, I'm not really sure. I doubt many poeple here ahave enough experience with slicks to give an honest opionion. Judging by AMA results, Dunlop seems to be the clear leader in performance on American tracks.

Yea im not too sure on what he meant. thats just how his question made the most since to me since i already knew dot race tires are better cause they last longer than slicks and give you ample grip. so i dont know lol.

I got the impression that he just wants to try them out. Sounds like it would be a waste.

unless your at like compitition level. youll be better off buying dot race tires. and theyll last you maybe 2 good track days maybe more depending on amount of time, track conditions and all that. whereas slicks are more of a one time thing. theyll only last a few heat cycles if that. but if you have the money, and just wanna see what it feels like i dont seem the harm in that. but if your budgets kinda thin dont even bother.
