Rumors put the power somewhere around 190.

It will still be restricted to 186mph, so to get it to go any faster someone will have to find a way to de-restrict it (hint hint Trevitt).

Also, the stock gearing will probably only be set to achieve 186mph as fast as possible, so that might have to change too.

Marketing-wise, I don't think it's a very good time to try to sell an expensive "Busa beater" right now.  Jay Leno will probably buy one--because of course he'll just have to have it.  He'll pay someone to make it go as fast as it can go.  I'm so jealous!!!

Looks kinda cool, but don't it look a little like the old zx-11's......maybe just a little bit, with the way the taillights are?

What do you guus think? But I guess if it really that fast who cares what it looks like!

I don't like the way it looks--too retro.  And I'm not interested in going 186mph or more.  I could get 186 on my bike (I would just need more road to do it).  But I won't try that because I'm done with that phase in my life.  I want light weight and "flickability", two things sorely lacking in this new ZX-14.

The people who buy this and ride it will most likely be the same kind of people who would by a Corvette or Viper and just tool around letting everyone know that if *they wanted to* they could use that power.  A conversation piece at the local Hooters, ya know.

More Like "What are you trying to Compensate for?" LOL
Who in the heck comes up with the 186 number......
Whats the dif between crashing at 186 or 200. the results gonna be the same.
And why 18<6> why not 18<5> or 190
Would it be electronic limited "like my car" or just tops out at 186.
As far as the bike as a whole. You all know my philosopy:

The 186mph number comes from converting from 300kph (300*.62).  The European governments said to the manufactureres "limit your motorcyles or we'll do it", so the manufacturers all agreed voluntarily to limit the speed to 300kph.

If the price isn't ridiculous I will buy one!  This bike, the CBR XX and the Busa are the only Sport Tourers I would buy.  Of course this would be a second bike.  I think the bodywork will deter all the blingers out there.

PS I love bling!

That may be the case for some guys, but mostly around here it will be used at the dragstrip. Top speed is not a concern to most, it never was. It was just for bragging rights between manufacturers. Ironically the 186mph limit has helped the manufacturers, it's freed the engineers to make the bikes more ridable. They can continue to increase the power, but make the power curve more linear instead of trying to gear the bike and tune the motor for outright top speed. This is excellent news for drag racers.

Also, don't discount that this bike will make an awsome sport/touring bike that eats up super slab.
