Then i take it you havent seen a 03+ sv650s with full fairings. it looks sweet. you can hardly tell its a sv650.

Ok maybe i did go over the border with the POS.
GS500,SV650 are great machine,but you know ive been riding a 2004 636 for like 5 months(First Bike) Do you really think i will go get a gs500 or a v-twin...

I just wanted to know if theres a big marge between 1000CC and what should i choose between the choice i did give...

Between the choices you gave I would def stick to a 600 for a while.
A friend of mine bought a gixxer 1000 in april. He had it 4 days before he overpowered the rear tire and went into the ditch. He hit his head on a utility pole hard enough to split the helmet off his head at about 45 MPH.
No, he didnt make it.
Just don't to see that happen to someone else.
The older and more experienced I get. It seems, I need less power to ride just as aggressive. Thats why I am looking at an SV....

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I know a guy over here in Bahrain who went out and bought the same exact bike as his first ever, and ended up hitting a round-a-bout because he was going to fast and didn't know how to slow down fast enough. Ended up being luckily with just a broken leg, though he was laid up for a few weeks.  So ya, Casey, I would just go with the 600's def and take it easy.  Keep in mind that the 600's still go more than fast enough to get killed.  I actually made the same mistake toad's friend did many times on my R6, but because it didn't have that extra power, it just got a little squirly but luckily I was able to recover. Best of luck.

there really isnt any justification to buy a litre bike. the only one i can think off is for street riding so you have some decent torque and dont have to ring the *** neck to get power like you do a 600. and you said youve been riding a 636 for 5 months now. i dont know if its your first bike or whatever. but most likely the only reason you want something bigger is you got bored with the acceleration. which is stupid. spend another couple of seasons on the 636 to get your basic riding skills down alot beter. theres no reason to upgrade the 636 is a great bike

If someone stole my Gixxer 1000, I would probably get a 636 or Gixxer 600.  I'm *trying* to slow down.

Yes it's brutal--the stock rear tire only lasted me 1700 miles before I burned it up.  Put a Michelin Pilot Road on the back and it's lasted me 9800 miles.

It will teach you the meaning of throttle control, that's for sure.

If I were you I would stick with the 636--but it's up to you.

Well, for me (and I'm not the originator of this thread, I'm looking for my second sportbike, moving up from the 1998 885ci Triumph Speed Triple) I've all but made up my mind to get the Ninja. I don't ride the track, but I do spend most of my time in the corners. I live in western North Carolina. It makes sense to me to get the lightest, most flickable bike I can, but I do know that I am ready for something stronger than what the older Triple engine puts out (something like 90 hp, I think). Moving from the Speed Triple to the 2005 636 would be a big jump in power, and I hope that will keep me happy for a few years. Jumping straight up to the R1 might not be as satisfying for me. I think that I would actually ride slower since I would be so scared of the bike. Where I ride, if you make a mistake, you have a 50% chance of winding up in the ditch. Your other option is a 30+ foot drop off the side of the mountain into the creek.
My head says "get the ZX6R". My eyes say "get the R1".
My wife says "keep the Triple, buy the Ninja, if you don't like it then sell them both and get the R1." Isn't that awesome??

I think the Gixxer 600 wins in the looks+performance arena, but that's just me.  The CBR600RR is too heavy, and the R6 looks pretty much the same as it did 5 years ago.  But any 600 is a good choice.  It's like choosing between liter bikes--you won't be able to tell them apart power-wise unless you're on a track, so best to go with what fits YOU better.

The 636 is going to be slightly heavier than a 600.  You may not notice it, but I know I would.  I notice the weight of a fly when it gets stuck to my windscreen! LOL

But if it really came down to it, I might choose the LIGHTEST possible 600.  And I think that's the R6.  I don't really care for looks as much as I care for weight.

CBR takes the looks category for me hands down.  Rideability/handlings gotta go to the R6, I don't know much about either Kawi's-636 or 6rr-i've never rode them, but I do like the Suzuki though.  Just never been a big fan.  But at any rate, they're all great bikes.

I rode my friend's GSXR 600 some. It's VERY different from my Speed Triple. I kept looking at the speedo on the GSXR and thinking "Surely I can't be going THAT fast."
I think it was the fact that it has a fairing. I don't know.

That's it exactly.  The front fairing helps to push wind away, so as to keep it off the rider.  Geez way to state the obvious on my part lol

Casey,

Go ride the 06 S3 before you decide... If you are into a getting away from the naked thing, fine. If you like your S3, go ride the new one. It will blow your socks off... 1050cc all kinds of crazy fast, wheelies in four gears... Give it a shot...

To the original poster... How can you get "bored" on a 650? That type of attitude is what makes 2 wheeled statistics what they are...

Are you close to me.
Have you ever rode Hwy 178 from Rosmond to Hwy 11
I frequent that road.
