I got into this AMA racing a year or so ago after I caught it on after a MotoGP. Just wondering, I'm seeing that alot of riders are involved in both series. I was also wondering why there are so many series. Obviously, there are the big differences: 600cc class and a 1000cc class (Supersport/Superbike). But what is the whole Formula Xtreme series? Am I missing the big picture or something? Is there really a need for two (1000cc) series? I love motorcycle racing as much as the next guy, but I need some clarifications first.....

More than a few people would say no, they don't need and shouldn't have two 1000cc classes.
Check it for a pretty decent, in-a-nutshell answer: http://www.sport-touring.net/cgi-bin/msg...ST;f=38;t=32059

The only thing I think needs changing is; I think Superstock should run DOT Tires, not slicks. Riders in Superbike should not be in Supersport or S-stock This would open it up to the riders who qualified 31 and on.

I agree, Superstock should run DOT treaded tires.
I'd also like to see the factories competing against each other more. Maybe limit them to Superbike and Formula Extreme.... Not a perfect solution, but an idea maybe...
