I think it looks really sweet in black. I like the shorty exhaust too. I can't wait to hear one at red line!! Should make for a nice race bike.

I think they screwed up a lil over there @ Yamaha Motor Corp. The only good thing was the retro yellow colors for the R1/R6 we saw Rossi and Edwards ride @ USGP early July.

I currently ride a 2003 R6 and love it. I have also thought for a while that it needed a makeover. But to me, this is a great dissapointment. It looks like Yamaha is trying way to hard to make a cool looking bike and they've taken it overboard in my opinion. Nothing against them however, as Yamaha definitely can make a great bike, also as I've definitely praised my current R6. But the looks alone for this model will send me elsewhere, and maybe that makes me sound like a poser/show guy whatever you want to call it. I know that's not what I am. I am curious though to see how it stacks up against the Kawi. To me the pipe seems to thick to be placed that low, if it was a real short one just sticking out the side like moto gp it would look cool, but what I can't get over is the license plate setup. But maybe that's what throws it off, I could see it looking way better by just removing that piece. The whole hanging thing just seems unneccassary. Whatever, that's my two cents, or well more like a whole dollar.

I love it. Do you think they will start making aftermarket shorty exhausts like that? Or maybe they already do? I think they're sweet lookin...

I personally like it. The shorty exhaust has to be that thick to baffle the noise. Gotta remember that there are federal regs on noise. It would be sick just to have a megaphone moto gp style pipe though. The mud flap would be the first thing to go. Then the bike would look really clean. The only thing I don't like about it is the gap in the front front faring and the headlight cowling. If you do the 360vr on the yamaha site you can see it. I am sure yamaha did that for a reason. Still a pimp looking little bike. Just might have to get one.

I think all of you who hate it right now will be quickly changing your minds if the new R6 has the performance to stomp on all the other 600s.
Can't really admire/hate the bike's styling while you're riding it....

Ya gotta love the "trickle down" from both Moto GP. I'm stoked to be a rider these days and I'm even more stoked to see the ramp-up between model-years. These are very good times for us enthusiasts.

what is the difference between the yzf-r6 and the yzf-r6s?
The R6 is all new for this year, the R6S is a cheaper, more comfortable alternative, much like the YZF600R was to the R6 or the Kawasaki ZZR600 is to the ZX-6R.
The R6S looks like the '03 R6.
