Hey what do you think of having the best of the best like say the IROC races for car racing but only for bikes. I would luv to see the top five riders from all classes around the would compete in a mini series for a million bucks or so, with rossi, maldin, corse... you get the gists! On all equally preped bikes, same make and model. Who should be indcluded? Who would take home top spot?? Someone put this together Please! I'm tired of woundering what if... lets see them get it on!!

i think thats a pretty good idea. wed be able to see what happens when the bike is no longer a factor in the race. and its all on the riders skill to come out on top

Wonder no longer, if Rossi competed, he'd win.

i think you talk him up to much. you never know whatd happen if mladin or spies was on the same bike. its hard to tell whod win. which is way its hard to say cause without them actualy racing its kinda just a "my dicks bigger than yours" argument. the winner would probably be the person who can adapt to the course and bike the quickest.

Mladin and Spies are on the same bike right now...

and Mladin has been schooling him and everyone else to the tune of ~ 1 second per lap consistently throughout the season.

Yea thats what im saying though. put rossi on the same bike as those two and see what happens. honestly i think the outcome between those three would either be mladin, rossi, spies. or it would be rossi, mladin, spies. you just dont know. especialy if some old timers came out. like doohan.

Rossi still wins.  Provided it is a road race and you don't throw any dirt into the equation....  But if there was some dirt, you could add Carmichel.    Mladin is a great rider, but Rossi might be the best ever.  I also like the Haydens, Spies, Yates (when he isn't kicking people), not to mention some of the WSB riders...  Rossi beat everyone when he was on the best bike, and now that he is on the second best bike...  Same results.  He is going to win the MotoGP chamionship next year also.  No one has show that they can consistantly race with him.  The few that do, usually crack at the end.  He is just so determined and mentally tough.

I always liked the IROC idea with the car guys.  But since they only ran the cars on the ovals, it tended to favor the NASCRAP drivers.  And it they did it with bikes, what would everybody ride?  I don't think Yamaha would let Rossi, Edwards, DeSalvo ride any other make.  And the same goes for the other riders for Honda, Kawasaki, Ducati, etc....

I'd still like to see it happen.

i just cant wait for rossi to go to formula one. so i can see him lose every race. not saying that its easy to race f1s. cause racing in the formula one series isnt an easy task (same with moto gp) but its gonna be amusing to see his reactions to not winning most the races. hes probably gonna throw a fit. maybe even run back to moto gp with his tail between his legs. who knows.

I doubt that would be the case.

People with the level of mental fortitude and racecraft like Rossi do not throw fits. Remember the race last year where he lost to Gibernau (think it was Brno). He made a mistake and got pipped by Sete at the final corner.

The look on Rossi's face afterwards could've probably melted ice- he was p*ssed. But nowhere in the press conference did he whine, moan or look despondent. He knew he `effed up and lost by his own mistake. No admission of weakness or that he was beaten.

It would be interesting to see how he does in F1. As it stands, F1 is boring as all hell and if Rossi makes it interesting, heck, I might just want to watch it again.

yea. i just think his reactions will be interesting. cause in moto gp if he loses its basicly cause he made a mistake. but in f1 he can be driving his best and for the first year or two he probably wont even touch the top 10. and it wont be because he made a mistake. its just out of his hands. i want to see how he handles not being on the podium everyrace. even more of a shocker for him he probably wont be on the podium at all. his first season anyways. but you cant expect podium finishes from a rookie.

Don't discount the fact in F1, the car is 80% of the equation and the driver 20% whereas it's the other way around in motorcycle roadracing (although, MotoGP is showing signs of moving in that direction...).

The rider makes the bike but the car makes the driver.

I don't think Fernando Alonzo or Kimi Raikkonen would be challenging for the title if they weren't on the Renault or McLaren, respectively.

Assuming Ferrari regains series leading performance as they have shown the past few years- if Rossi does make the jump- podium finishes could be within the realm of possibility since Rossi was allegedly just 1.5 secs of Schumacher's pace.

Perhaps the additional testing lined up for Rossi (presumably after he wraps up the title) will bring more light to this matter.

i didnt hear that allegidly he was only 1.5 secs of schumacher's pace. the only information i saw was in the article where he was testing. ferrari is a good car. but i still think its gonna take him a few races to get used to passing points and corner speeds. not to mention the tracks are new to him. even if hes raced at the track on a bike. its totally different in a car. but if he does alot of practice sessons and gets a feel for it i dont see a reason why he couldnt do well in the 2nd half of the season. and yea your right untill he wraps up the season and starts testing we will be more in the dark to how he might fair in the class. but i expect his first season to be similar to nicky haydens first season in the gp. he might win a race. but hell probably be somewhere between the 20th place and 10th place for a while. maybe top 10 since he will be in a ferrari. but who knows if danica can come as close to winning the daytona race as she did. then rossi deffinatly has a chance to do well.

I was mistaken... not 1.5 secs of Schumacher's lap times but 3 seconds off Schumacher's record lap at Ferrari's Fiorano test track.

If the car is 80% of a winning equation in F1 then I would say tires are at least 40% of a winning car.

I can't see Rossi competeing at all the first couple of years.  F1 is perhaps the most difficult to be competative in of all motorsports.  Look at great drivers such as Zinardi and Montoya who were dominant in CART, as well as other professional open wheeled series, they were none issues (Monyoya won a couple of races and poles)except for the hype they brought through their presence. Rossi is very talented and appears to be the epitome of a focused rider, however, I cannot see him jumping from MotoGP and being a factor in the mega-buck, mega-ego, and mega political world of Formula One.  Who knows I could be wrong.
