To give you a little background, I know nothing about MotoGP!  I have been here in Iraq for 10 months now and started picking up any magazine with a motorcycle on the cover to help in my lack of riding therapy.  I see that MotoGP will be going to 800cc motorcycles.  How will this translate to the showroom selection?  Will 800cc bikes be added to the fleet or replace the liter bikes?  Do you think the 800cc bikes will be an expensive special order item?  I understand this is just speculation but I figure anyone who has been following the sport for a while can make an educated guesstimation of what is around the corner.

Hopefully they look distinguishable from the 600's.

i dont think we're going to see anyhting in the showrooms because of motogp going to 800cc.  its not like now we've got motogp simular bikes sititng in the showroom.  closest thing we've got is the CBR1000RR with the repsol plastics..
we will some some of the technological advances trickle down through all the classes on the show room floor though...

I agree, a lot of tech has trickled down from the MGp bikes to the showroom, but engine configuration seems to be the exception. Showroom bikes share nothing with GP bikes in the engine dept. Even the inline 4's have different firing orders. (big bang) The 990cc GP bikes and the 1000cc street bikes are similar in displacemet more by coincidense than anything else. The possibility of Honda producing a V5 and Ducati with it's street version of the Desmosdici being the exception.

Now I agree that the Moto-GP tech stuff doesn't always trickle down to us but I did find a web site (located in the UK or Europe) that says Honda may be devoloping a new 1000cc VFR to replace the aging Blackbird 1100XX.  You are probably saying "Big deal...a new overweight VFR".  Well, the "F" in the new VFR stands for V-5.  Go to this supplied link to take a gander http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/news.html ...but it is NSFW.

most of those pics arent even creditable. but i admit the pic of that vfr 1000 looks nice. different looking but nice. id deffinatly buy 1 if it is as comfy as the past vfrs. but also on that site the pic of the new "06 r6" i think it looks cool as hell but i doubt thats what itll be. ive hears people say how the liscence plate and signals go on is ugly with that metal bracket thing locating it away from the tail. but it looks like a formula one wing or a champ car wing and personaly i think its the shizzet lol

Yeah, I know that the photos are all probably speculation or artist's renditions.  Even if they do come to fruition, they will probably only be offered in Europe.

Anyway, I love the idea of a V-5 Interceptor.  I used to own a 1986 VFR Interceptor (Red, White and Blue).  I absolutely loved the bike but I ended up giving it to my sister because she wanted to start riding.  That, and it was getting difficult to find tires for that front 16 inch wheel.
