I just read a Forum in general discussion (IMPORTANT: Why Gear is Important...) by wakeboardb and saw the very painful looking pics of examples of why gear is important. So now I want to know where some cheap/reliable gear is for ex: boots that cover your ankles, gloves, and is there anything else that would work like leathers but cost less?

cheap reliable gear. sounds like an oxymoron to me. which reminds me where are the smart blondes at lol? dont be too cheap on gear. make sure its dot or snell approved. in my opinion gear has never been the place to get cheap on. but there are cheap gear that get the job done. are they going to be comforatble and what not? most likely not. remember you get what you pay for

True but, a $200 HJC helmet can/will protect you just as good as a $600 Aria/Shoei.

that is true. it just wont be as comforatable or light and might fit a lil different. but will protect just as well. remember when it comes to gear fit is a big issue.

True again but not everyone will say $600 Arias or Shoeis fit them the best. I dunno much about Shoeis but I do know Arias are a bit smaller/lighter but I don't really know how much I'd noticed it. Some people say you do and some don't or maybe they just say it's not worth the extra cash. I've also heard Aria has really poor customer service and is bad about getting replacement vents/cheek pads/etc??

lol i think its just the cheap helmets dont fit my melon head . but yea thats what im saying. dont let price drive you. try on all different brands of gear. see what fits and dont fit. then sort through the ones that fit in your price range.

I feel that Fieldsheer makes great products at a very affordable price. The quality of their armor is especially superior to most of the other manufacturers I've seen and priced lower too. I've been very satisfied with the gear I've purchased from them. (jacket/pants)
To view their product line and locate a local dealer:

Fieldsheer's online distributor:

The reality is, you need to find the helmet with the right shape to fit the shape of your head. Arai is on of the few that has different shapes for different heads. They have two or three distinct shapes. Fit is CRITICAL in a helmet. If the 200.00 snell/dot helmet fits PROPERLY, ok, maybe then it's a good deal. If not... it will be torture to wear for several reasons and you'll wind up buying another helmet anyway. On the other hand... If a 500.00 helmet fits perfectly the first time, you are done...
To the Arai cust service thing, I've had no problems getting items I need. Even if ordered they have shown up right on time.
