Dude, since you aren't really looking for advice, but rather validation of a choice you already made, at least get yourself some rider training. A large percentage of horizontal parking mishaps (i.e., accidents) occur when a newbie is taught by "friends or family".
We can talk about seat to peg distance, reach to clip-ons, height of clip-ons, how rearset the pegs are, etc. etc. but until you see for yourself, this is all academic. Of course, since you have no experience with a motorcycle, you also have no frame of reference. Why don't you go to a dealership as someone already suggested and sit on an -R6 or GSX-R600 and see for yourself how the seating position fits or does not fit you?

Hey Tevo, don't worry, he'll reconsider the SV when he finds out insurance on the R6 will run him between 4 and 6 grand.

I suppose it's a euphemism for "Dude, I dropped by bike..." or "Man... I crashed!"
I wish I could claim credit for it... a local riding group actually had a (dubious) "Horizontal Parking" award for its members each year. Street and Track.
These weren't serious crashes, more embarassing incidents than anything else.

TeVo, I did the read up and it made a lot of sense. Also it is well written. At the end there are some of the recommended buys. My situation is that I had been riding for 10yrs but have not for the last 6-7 yrs. I took a California MSF course and just got my license. I am leaning towards a 2001 Suzuki Katana 600. For one I like the styling and second I am getting a good deal. From the online user opinions gleaned over the last few days. Most folks like the style but have issue with the weight and turning radius of the motorcycle. Also it has lesser torque and power compared to other 600 cc motorcyle in its class which is what I want. Can somebody give some more data and input on this motorcycle?
