How fast can a sportbike reach 60mph without any modifications?? 2...3..seconds? My riding experience is minimal and only on dirtbikes, but if an 8K sportbike can outperform a 100k sportscar, perhaps I'll take more than a casual interest on riding. Any feedback will help, and please no B.S.(not that I'll be able to tell the difference)

A new superbike can go 0-60 in about 2.9 sec A 600, which you are talking about (8 grand), takes about 3.3 to hit 60. Of course this is with a skilled rider. An inexperiance rider can get 0 to road rash in 1 sec flat.

I have no idea if those 0-60 times are correct because no one really pays attention or cares about 0-60 times when it comes to sportbikes. Any new 600 will do 60mph easily in first gear, so basically it's how much you want to abuse the clutch and how quickly you can let it out while keeping the front down. It's almost like asking which is faster 0-25mph a corvette or a viper?

Motorcyclist lists 0-60mph times in their tests, and that sounds about right. It takes a lot of car to outdo a motorcycle in pretty much any kind of acceleration test.
But... just as you wouldn't want a 100K supercar for your first car, you don't really want to start riding on the motorcycles that go that fast.

As if additional motivation is needed, I've got a 650cc dual sport that will equal or out accelerate 0-60 most "exotics". That's always a quiet riot btw. All this, 53 mpg, and a whole lot more fun to boot!

i have no idea but here's a story for you. i was in damascus, syria (long story, dont ask) last summer. anyways, the motorcylce cops there have a honda. i think its a 1000cc cause its huge. so anyways me and my friend were in his '98 (or something) porsche, i forgot what model it was. the cops over there can be bought for as little as $5 and besides they like to play. so we're at the light and a cop pulls up next to us. so my friend starts revving the engine to get the cop going. the cop reciprocates and confirms that he wants to play by revving his bike. at the first green in a distance of about 300meters the porsche gets the honda, but not by a lot. at the second light, honda gets the porsche by alot, but you can tell that the cop was tearing his engine up. the third light the cop finally got his s h i t together and smoked the porsche buy about 4car lengths. moral of the story, i guess there is none, but bikes by default have an amazing edge over the exotics.

no pics. there really isnt much to it, you can buy yourself out of a ticket for as little as $5. anyways bikes are illegal in syria because they had some problems with insurgents/rebels back in the 80s who would use bikes in driveby shootings and assasinations against government officials. pretty crazy.
