Would the editors of Sport Rider magazine be willing to conduct a test of all the major sport tires such as the Dunlop D208ZR, Michelin Pilot Power, Pirelli Diablo, Metzeler M1, Bridgestone BT014, etc. on the street? Roadracing World has already conducted a test on the track for racing purposes and I was wondering if a test for the street (especially the canyons) would be doable.

Yes and yes.
We've done a street tire comparison test on the street before (Feb. 00 and June '02) and we're about due for another one.

Here's my personal test of the 208GP: it's sidewalls are too stiff for light bikes. Hold lines fair enough but bounces all over the place. Typical Dunlop slide characteristics: it slides and then hooks up.

Well, for those few who ride supermoto, that info might be useful (although the general consensus is that cut 250GP slicks are best in most cases). Otherwise, "your personal test" is pretty much useless for any sportbike. In my personal experience, Dunlops have always been very forgiving in slides compared to others.

The 208gp is great tire for the track but what the hell happened to the 208zr for the street. I can't get enough heat into the new model to get full traction. Even after riding hard for an hour I can break them loose at will, and this is on a 600rr. The first time I noticed this I thought I hadn't switched out my gp before going out for a street ride. The new zr feels like a cold gp all the time. It is very frustrating so I'm going to the pilots for the street. Very disappointing, Last year’s tire was very good. Maybe it’s just a bad batch.
