how about nicky haden and colin edwards kickin some tail at lagina seca. I watched the qualifying and was hoping one of them would win and they took 1 2. hayden was flying in that race and for all those rossi fans i'll give it he was new to the track but a win is a win. now if nicky can just keep pushing like that he won't have to worry about losing his job.

An excellent run by Hayden, indeed. Great day of racing. Only wish we coulda been there.
I honestly didn't think that Nicky was going to do THAT well. Good show!

"Only wish we coulda been there." Tell me about it me and my wife were planning ever since we heard about them coming I fell short on vacation time and money I knew it was gonna be something special. But it was good to watch on tv. I used to make fun of those brits that usually talk during the race but at least their fun to listen to dave despain and freddie spencer spend to much time analizing and talking race specs and what happen if you farted going into to turn 11 made it kind of lame.

Funny music... "Goin' back to Cali" www.nickyhayden.com I liked his short interview after the race, saying something about all the people who thought he should have came home (from MotoGP) last year after 2 years and thought he couldn't git-r-done.

I think Hayden deserves alot of credit to not only put up such good qualifing times, but to pole, and lead every lap of the race as well. Hopefully its the start of more to come. And hats off to Makota Tamada, who finished a respectable 7th place, which he hasn't seen anything close to this season. Roberts Jr. should have done better but maybe it wasn't his day today. With such a great turnout this year, I'm sure the USGP is on schedule for next year as well...

I know I heard some people talking about the track not being safe, and that if they want MotoGP back next year they're going to have to make some changes. Why not just have it at Barber, seems like it may be more of what they're use to? Newer track, not as tight/slow (right?) or does Barber have safety issues too? (I wouldn't think so, from what I remember seeing on tv??) Your thoughts?

i think that i heard Barber was designed from the beginning to have motorcycles and qualify for every racing series, i think it has huge run-off areas and such, so i am sure it would work for Moto GP too, but it sure was awesome seeing those bikes riding around Laguna Seca. i had to work too so i had my dad record the race for me on a normal video tape. as for Nicky, i hope this wasnt a fluke and he can beat the Doctor again

Barber Motorsports is definitely the best of the breed in a country that is dominated by NAStyCAR and oval tracks.
I am not sure any track aside from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is currently FIM homologated. And Laguna Seca may be viewed as questionable since the complaints have been insufficient run-off in some areas.
I believe the FIM also requires pit boxes for all the teams (garages) and other track infrastructure. I don't think Barber has the required infrastructure at this time.
Lastly, I think Barber Motorsports is on the small side at 2.3 miles.

And last but not least, congrats to Nicky Hayden for his first GP victory. It is most fitting that it should come on U.S. soil for the kid from Kentucky.
Colin Edwards put in a great performance also. Passing Rossi on the entry to the corkscrew gave the Doctor a bit of a lesson.

Sport Rider did a great story on the development of the Barber Motorsports track. I think that it would be ideal for a USGP circuit next year because as mentioned before they wouldnt have to refine anything or adjust the grades and curves on the track in order to allow for MotoGP racing. They had to adjust Laguna Seca for the MotoGP riders and it was probably difficult for the supersport and superbikes to adjust to a different track then theyve been used to.

to all those crybabies the track had bumps and dips nicky and colin weren't crying shut up and race you gotta do what you gotta do when people in the back are crying the track is bad you won't here a peep if they figured out how to handle the problems and won. it's an excuse the "refs had it in for us""they were playing to physical""the track was bad" you know what they say "excuses are like butholes everyone has one and they all stink!" so cry about that

I was at Laguna Seca and the race was awsome. That was the first road racing event that I have seen live. I must say that the Moto GP Machines are awesome. Hayden dominated the entire race. Edwards was also very impresive. Great job by the AMERICAN riders at home. Hayden's victory lap with the Amercan Flag was spectacular. I will have to make it to the GP Next year as well. For those of you who missed it. You missed a hell of a show.
Go USA!

From my understanding they're not complaining just because the track has dips or bumps on it, they're complaining because the track has dips and bumps on it in an area where there isn't enough run off space. You can see some of the barriers/walls are closer at Laguna than on some of the other MotoGP tracks.
