I'm hearing that the time difference is gonna be around the 2 second range. That'd earn a grid spot for a few of the AMA guys for sure.
No substitute for money though, and that's what Moto GP is all about.
Just hope some of "our boys" can give the Doctor a run for it. He's on a different level talent-wise, he just continues to impress. Maybe the playing field will be a bit more level since he does'nt have experience at this track, not a typical euro-circuit, but I woulnd't bet against him.
I understand that alot of the teams are really looking forward to this GP. It seems like it'll be a great show, a crowded show, but a good one nevertheless.

I would never bet against the man , but still hope Hayden and Edwards make a good show of it.  Make him earn it.

Rossi's already won the race, and the season championship.  Sadly, MotoGP is as exciting as AMA Superbike with Mladin taking it every weekend.  Too bad the 125s and 250s aren't coming over as well.

I think MotoGP uses the 117% rule, so 2 seconds would definitely make the grid if Superbikes were allowed.  I think the Protons and WCM/Blata's have made the cut at every MotoGP and some of their bikes/riders have been 5+ seconds back.  The racing hasn't been quite as close as the qualifing--top 10 is usually with in one second of pole.  But I am looking forward the the race.  I am really hoping to go next year!!  And as far as qualifying goes, some of the Superstocks would qualify in the top 10 of the AMA Superbike grids.

With a little luck, Hayden and Edwards will have a good showing since they've ridden Laguna Seca several times before.  But the fast guys are always fast....

All true ZX...wouldn't it be nice if somebody like Maladin or somebody like that was a wildcard.
If you go next year make be sure you get your hotel early and chek your reservation because it's been a big deal this year, cancelled res. and price gouging by the hotels has made the papers here and the D.A. is investigating.
I like your bike by the way, if you get sport rider and still have the issue of the '05 litre class shootout I'm the guy on your bike (blue HJC). I really like the flat-ti-paint job, it's a cool looking bike and hauls serious butt! That was I think the funnest shootout I've done cause all those bikes were so good.

Safe ridng,
S Mikolas

i have to agree with you although i think all the series are great. from corser smokin the rear for fun at then end of that one race to nitro nori smokin it in the most recent race. not to mention that honda dude who was runnin up front the second race this weekend i swear he was sideways half the race. i love that stuff. it's been great to watch. i think maladin would do great in wsb, but from the interviews i seen he's pretty happy livin with his family in the states, and he doesn't want to ride for a team that can't win (suzuki moto gp) but him and corser on the suzuki's battling it out would be awsome to watch. but moto gp i mean come on rossi he's the man. easily the best rider in the world. and i get to see him ride in less than 10 days. man it's going to be cool. never been to a motorcycle race b4 so i'm totally stoked to be going to see the race at Laguna Seca. going to be one heck of a road trip.

I am stoked! I am there Thursday - Monday!!!!!

Don't be afraid, the Yanks always give the big boys a run!

I know this being a GP and all it is quite a bit different but the Americans have uber pride when it comes to the home land.

In the past I've seen E. Bostrom running wild on the WSB boys while riding an outdated ZX7RRRRRR. Then there was the "he's to tall to be that fast" Scott Russell running around like his hair was on fire.

Granted, Rossi is on pace to be knighted, beitified (SP.) and sainted all by the time he is done. If fact if the rumors are true he will reach deaty status by the time he is done with the current crop of would be's, could be's and should've beens.

Ok, I know you are all saying SHUT UP! But, I am so pumped I am sweating on my lap top and blowing off work to post this.

By the way, if you are still looking for a place to stay without taking a second on the house. Try away from the coast, like San Juan Bautista (45 minutes N/E) reasonable rates/rooms $100ish per night. It is closer then SCAMA Cruz and Monterey is a zoo during this stuff. I have seen prices of $300+ per night to stay at a flea bag inn down there!

See you there and bring the AMERICAN PRIDE!

"God bless our troops, they are there so we can be here!!!"

As much as I would like to see an American rider win the USGP as much as the next guy, I sincerely doubt it. Will Hopkins or Roberts ever catch a bit of luck? We saw it in Shanghai but that didnt last. Maybe, just maybe Edwards will podium, but I hope its not another Rossi-Gibernau bout. I hate that because almost all of the past GPs this season, its all about Rossi, Gibernau, sometimes Melandri, and every now and then another rider has their moment in the spotlight. I'd like to see how Rossi would perform on a Suzuki, maybe this would give him a real challenge. Im sick and tired of seeing his name everywhere in the MotoGP recordbooks and race standings. He might jump into F1 in 2007 when his contract expires I say good riddance. As for this Sunday, my moneys on Hayden performing well maybe 5th or 6th, and to anyone who has tickets or will be attending this prestigious GP, lemme just say I envy you.

Hey, it's not Rossi's fault that no one else can step up to his level. He's just doing his job.
I'd say watch out for Edwards; I think he's going to be going for broke at this race.

Yeah good pt., but think about it... do you like watching the same MotoGP rider dominate every single weekend of racing?

I don't mind it, because you're watching one of the greats making history. If it bothers you that much, you can look at it as: Which rider can stay closest to Rossi, and for how long?
Don't forget that Melandri gave Rossi all he could handle at Assen, and he's just as much of a MotoGP rookie as Hayden and Edwards. I'd have to say that at least some riders are keeping Rossi in sight; after Rainey's accident and Schwantz's retirement, Doohan had no peers for four excruciating years. He could've mailed in his race victories, he was so far ahead.

You can obviously see Gibernau pushing himself, hes probably Rossi's biggest threat at this point, not matter what the points standings say. I think he wants Rossi to know that he has what it takes to win on his bike. But by Rossi clearly winning every single race over and over again, does it bring alot of attention to the sport? Wouldn't you like to see American John Hopkins get his first victory? Rossi is one of the best MotoGP riders out there; we all know that. I just wish that Gibernau would finally get a bit of good luck and that he will give Rossi a run for his money this weekend.

It seems Rossi already has the majority of the paddock defeated even before the race starts.

Gibernau lacks the mental fortitude that Rossi has. And, if anyone saw the Hayden interview Sunday on SPEED, it looks like Rossi has Hayden beat even before the USGP weekend gets started.

No one has the combination of racecraft, skill and mental toughness that Rossi has. No one since Lawson, Rainey, Schwantz and Doohan has been his equal in the mental fortitude department.
