How do y'all feel about barend mirrors. Are they safe? What brands/kinds are better i.e. metal sheilding or rubber? Do they last longer than one trip?

Bar end mirrors are good on a sportbike, in my opinion, since they let you see what's behind you.  The stock mirrors on most sportbikes don't stick out far enough to see past your elbows.

I have bar end mirrors that I assembled from various parts I had machined to fit together.  The mirrors themselves are slightly convex Ducati's, bought used on eBay for $30 or so.

Napolean bar-end mirrors are good quality, but I found Emgo mirrors had poor quality glass -- dark and much too convex.

I have these mirrors mounted with rubber tubing for damping,  and that works to give me clear pictures even at high speed.  They let me adjust my stock mirrors so those cover my blind spots in the lanes to each side.  Without having to move my head I can see vehicles overtaking in my stock mirrors right up until I see them in my peripheral vision.  Those bar end mirrors let me watch traffic further back as well as keep an eye on what's coming up behind me at stoplights.  I use 'em!

You know I hadn't thought about having 4 mirrors on there. that sounds like a good idea. Thanks.

I would love to see a picture of your bike with 4 mirrors!  Interesting indeed...great idea...but I'd have to see what it looks like before taking that plunge.  Way to go with the ducati makeshift idea; I love ingenuity.

I think bar end mirrors look dumb on race replicas, but they look far better than the standard mickey mouse ear mirrors that come stock on most naked bikes.  I've also never had a problem with most mirrors on sportbikes, unlike most people who love to complain about them.  I've heard with some of the naked bikes running bar end mirrors that some of the bar end mirrors will fold up on you at highway speed.  Something to keep in mind when shopping for different brands.

Depending on the bike, the bar end mirrors can vibrate bad enough to make them useless.  I think they can look good on nakeds but not on race-reps.

I have photos of my bike showing the four mirrors, but I can't see any way to post them here.  Yeah, there's the "Image" UBB Code, but that asks for a URL rather than an image attachment.

Is there some way to post photos to this forum that I missed?

I machined an insert for my clip ons that carries a CRG 'clamp on mirror and a bar end turn signal. The whole assembly installs with one set screw and can be removed without dismounting any of the controls. It was a great solution for a CBR600rr track day bike. Cut about 45min off my track prep time. The CRG mirrors work great as well. In fact, when leaned over in a corner they work better than the stock mirrors by a long shot. I don't see a way to attach an image or I would include one.

Well, there's no way to attach files to posts on this forum (which is rather lame, imho), otherwise I'd post a picture.
