I'm sure some of you have heard, but today Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was seriously injured in an accident on his Hayabusa. Pennsylvania law states that helmets are optional, and Ben doesn't like wearing one(while riding motorcycles---He wears one all the time playing football)From the photos, it seems that the car could have turned left in front of him at an intersection. I still don't understand riders not wanting to wear helmets. Still glad he will be ok. Post your thoughts about the incident/helmets- no helmets.

Some people are too tough for helmets.
Out here, in NC, most everybody is too tough for jackets and gloves, too. Not me. I'd like to stay pretty.

Does anyone know how many states Do-Not require helmets while riding? Out here in CA, helmets have been required for the past 13-15 years.(I think.)

He's a tough bastard that's for sure, to take that car in the face and come through. As far as helmets go, I support the helmet optional law. Do I ride without one? No! I make it a strong habit to wear one along with atleast a textile jacket. But I feel that people should have the freedom to make their own [stupid] decisions.

Yeah. It's called the 'theory of natural selection'.
What it boils down to is......more food and oxygen for me.
It would be good if he could be a spokesperson for motorcycle safety when this is all over with, but what are the chances of that happening.

On Sportscenter I heard some jackhole 'agent' of his had said something to the effect of..."Ben rides a big, modern motorcycle, and it is very safe. So he doesn't need a helmet."
What a freakin' joke. And the accident wasn't even his fault... left turn in front of him, very common. Just goes to show you.. dress for the crash.

Asked if he could have a full recovery, Dr. Stofman said, "that's what we're hoping for. He's a very brave and very strong-willed, super young man."
Superman is the only person who should ride without a helmet. Hey: Big Ben, here's your sign!

Did you hear the most recent statements issued? Not sure verbatim, but something along the lines of Not riding without a helmet ever again....

Yeah, he and Gary Buesy (sic) can start a club. Maybe they will call it "Real Smart Men Ware Helmets".

Super Bowl ring doesn't exempt you from being a MORON.
I'm glad he's still alive, but I hope it messes up his passing cuz I'm a Patriots fan.
